Is a gravity fed airbrush as comfortable to work with as a gravity fed one.

hmmm, which airbrush would be best for painting models and miniatures? I want a gravity feed, so I’m looking at either the HP-CS or the HP-C Plus.

Hello Robert! Which one is your favored one?
I use Micron SB for everything including painting on airplanes. Iwata is all you need when airbrushing.
Be well,
Jurek

I have two Iwata airbrushes: an HP-B and a Kustom Micron CM. Awesome stuff.

Hey that is Robert Paschal. Took a airbrush workshop with him in Beacon NY. He was a fabulous instructor, learned tons.

The “Eclipse” series specializes in using big needle/nozzles (up to 0.5!) for larger coverage, but also being able to do extremely fine details with the same needle.
I thought all HP-CS’s were of the Eclipse line. If not, im sure the only real difference will be that it will have a slightly smaller needle size (because the Eclipse specializes in being the biggest needle possible). Hope that helps.

And anyways, your probably not using an Iwata airbrush.. You probably dont need lube with that Badger of yours huh? Iwata is too much quality not to treat it right. Its METAL on METAL (needle, nozzle, interior lining of airbrush) will wear over time. Have you ever wondered why they lube real guns??
I just dont want people getting the wrong impression of something (you saying no lube) when the manual states that it is periodical maintainence, AND it makes the gun so much smoother to the touch

Iwata Eclipse CS/BCS/SBS manual, a DIRECT quote: “(Cleaning the needle)
- Periodicall mantainence. 1).. 2).. 3)Remove the needle. 4) Coat the needle lightly with a high-quality lubricant like Medea Super Lube. 5) Whipe the needle with a soft, clean cloth, leaving a light coat of lube behind. 6)… blah blah.
Dude, you need to get off your high horse.. Lube protects the walls of the airbrush from pre-mature rust and wear.. trust me… no dont trust me, trust the MANUAL!

No mate you are wrong. If you clean your needle and tips properly after each spray you don’t need lube. No one puts any lubricant near the tip of a needle. Go back to school.

UN-true. The needle ALSO needs a tiny bit of lube (which lubes the front area where the paint/air meet). Remember, this is a very small drop of oil rubbed anong the shaft of the entire needle. When done right, you shouldnt even feel the oil on the needle, its just there.
Why? cleanup is a BREEZE. Read the Iwata manual and see if it doesnt tell you exactly what I told you.

sorry for a stupid question- but what does cross threading mean??

I don’t think you should be putting Superlube near the tip of the needle because it will contaminate the paint. The Superlube only needs to be where it goes through the trigger assembly.

wen i removed the trigger a small like strip of trigger went lose and is moving about how can i put it properly?

Hey Don,
Thanks a lot for the vids. They are very helpful to beginners like me.
I do have one question. Is there a difference between the Iwata HP-CS and the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS? I am confused as to what the “Eclipse” difference is.

Super Lube not super glue. Super Lube you can purchase from any retailer selling Iwata products.

Why did you use super glue for ? I never used it when clean my airbrush….
