If you have decided to paint your car, then you are in for a real adventure, and hopefully a positive one. Many people do paint their cars and they turn out great. There is no reason yours won’t, if you follow the rules and guidelines.

One of the most crucial things you have to do is make sure you purchase the right car paints, and that you use them exactly as instructed. Like any technology the car paints have taken on a different character and changes over the years. Naturally they must stay consistent with what the car manufacturers are using or there would be no compatibility in the car paints at all.

You will see when you go to buy your paints that there is a variety, so you will have to make some choices. It is not a cheap commodity, so you want to be sure before you start that you are going to have the budget to buy your car paints in enough quantity to finish the job.

One of the things you will need to determine when you buy the car paints, is do you have the equipment that may be necessary to use that particular paint. For example, if it is a brand of paint that requires application with a spay gun, then do you have access to one. Unless you are inclined to do so, its unlikely you are going to want to buy a lot of additional equipment just for this one time project. Unless of course you are planning on painting other cars in the future and this would be a investment for you.

Its not just the color of the car paints that you have to decide upon, you are going to need to apply a primer as well. Once again you must consider how this is to be applied.

The other alternative to buying paints that require a sprayer is to by the spray paint tins. Some individuals feel that it is more expensive to go that route, but if you don’t have to buy extra equipment, then the cost maybe very comparable.

You need to be sure that you are going to be able to purchase more of the paint should you run out. Can you imagine the disaster it would be if you got the car 3/4s finished and couldn’t get more car paints because they were end of the line and you bought them on sale?

In either the paints that you use a spray gun with or aerosol cans there are a variety of brands available. Make sure you purchase from a reputable dealer, and hopefully one that can give you some advice. No doubt everyone will have some favorite brands, but a little research on your part will help as well.

Don’t forget that you will also need to buy a top coat as well when you go to buy your paints. Don’t penny pinch when it comes to this one. You will have put a lot of hard work into painting your car and you want the effects to last. You can achieve this with a good product.

Every classic car lover loves American muscle cars, and they can be illusive when your looking for a certain car, their are people out there who will take advantage of a person who is just learning the muscle car ropes, but I hope to help you with your hunt.

I don’t like to see anybody get taken advantage of when they buy a muscle car, hopefully my experiences will help you to have a good first experience when you buy a classic muscle car, it’s easy to go out looking for your first one, and let the excitement take over.

It’s OK to let the seller know that your excited to buy your muscle car, but you should also let them know that their car is not the last one on earth, don’t let a hard sell ruin your day, if your looking for a certain car, it’s always best to look at quite a few before you make your decision.

Allot of this process will depend on what you plan to do with the car, if you want to restore it to drive around town in, it will be much easier to locate your perfect muscle car, this of course will depend on your knowledge of the restoration process.

If this is to be your first restoration, you’ll need to start with a car that is in good condition, what I mean by good condition is this, look at the body panels on the car, such as the trunk floor, rocker panels, floor boards, and quarter panels.

Ask the seller to put the car on a lift so you can inspect the under side of it, if you notice any of the things that I have mentioned here, it will severely complicate the process of the restoration on the car, so you might want to look farther and find a better car.

Body panels aren’t the only thing that need attention, you should also inspect the engine for leaks around the valve covers, oil pan, and intake manifold, not to mention you should always hear the car run, so be sure to ask the seller to fire it up.

Listen for any strange noises, such as knocks, clicks, bumps, and rattles look for the car to smoke excessively at the tail pipe, beware that if your looking for a cheap car to start with, you will have to forgo being to picky about some of these things.

I will tell you up front, the lees you spend when you buy the car the more you’ll spend to restore it, this is not meant to scare you off, it’s the honest truth on the subject, plan to spend about ,000 to start with if you want a good project car to start with.

At the end of this article I’ll give you some links to dealers on the web that I have done the research on, and I find them to to be trustworthy to do right on your purchase, now let’s talk a little about the cars that are easier to locate parts for, up front these are the Camaro, and the Mustang.

Most of the parts for either the Camaro, or the mustang are fairly easy to get, unless your dealing with a very rare version of either car, such as a Yenko camaraderie, or a GT350 mustang, these can get pretty hard to locate parts such as engines for them.

I’d love to see you find the right muscle car for you, no matter what you plan to do with it, it’s my only desire to see that you get the car that you want in the end, so both you, and the seller feel like you have gotten a great deal in the end.

You should always check these dealers out through the BBB, and the local chamber of commerce in the area that their located, this is usually a good place to start, these agencies aren’t always the perfect solution either, they both depend a lot on membership of the company in their service.

Take what they tell you with a grain of salt, and do some of your own research on the issue, by talking to past customers, and the owners of the company that you want to deal with, and don’t take no for an answer on your questions.

Ask where the car came from, why it’s for sale, ask about the condition of the car, and let your mechanic, or restoration shop take a look at the car, once you have gotten all of your questions answered, you should be able to do the deal, and feel good abut it.

Fast and Furious – Cars in Film

When Universal launched the Fast and the Furious series of street racing films, they only expected only a modest return. Although street racing was getting a lot of press attention and the popularity of modified imports were exploding, the movies was never expected to be a blockbuster.

However, the film was an unexpected summer hit. It grossed ,089,015 on its opening weekend, surpassing the film’s million budget. It may have been the media buzz and gear head buzz surrounding the movies that caused an explosion in the box office and gave global insight and curiosity into the supercharged social scene of racing and customizing cars.

Two of the films’ stars that caused the movies to thunder in the box office, were the Mazda RX7 and the Mitsubishi Eclipse. One of Japan’s largest automotive aftermarket companies, Veilside, built the Mazda RX7 that was later filmed in Fast and Furious to show off its “Fortune” wide-body kit at the 2005 Tokyo Auto Salon. At the time of the show, the car was painted red, and it had everything a show car should – an HKS T04Z single-turbo conversion kit, a massive intercooler shoved under the front bumper, big Rotora brakes, A’PEXi coil-over shocks and vast 19-inch Andrew Evo-V wheels inside P255/30ZR19 front and P305/25ZR19 rear Toyo Proxes radials.

For the Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the same Mazda RX7 was painted Sunset Orange Pearl and Veilside built three more visual clones, including one that was destined for destruction using a previous Mazda RX7 that had appeared in both previous Fast and Furious movies. One of the cars used in the previous Fast and Furious movie was Dominic Toretto’s red RX.

In the sequel to the Fast & Furious, 2 Fast, 2 Furious, the character Roman Pierce was given a new partner in his adventure, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with a Snyper Body Kit. The car was personally picked by John Singleton for Pierce to drive and the car came equipped with a Vortech Supercharger V5 G trim, HKS Blow valve, HKS AFR (fuel management controller), RC engineering 270cc injectors, Boost Variant Fuel Pressure Regulator with Gauge and a Magnecor 8.5mil Competition wires and a license plate that said “H8TER.”

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder had the most elaborate paint job of any of the cars built for any of the Fast & Furious movies. The patchwork design on the car were not graphics but painted on with House of Kolors paint. It was one of the few cars in the film that wasn’t destroyed although a total of four were made for the filming. It is rumored that the car exhaust was swapped with a Subaru WRX.

Like all cars in the Fast & Furious series, both cars were heavily reinforced with a roll cage for bridge jumping. Also there was so much neon lighting used in the cars that a technical specialist whose expertise was in shooting neon on film was kept on set at all times. This obviously cost a lot more and cut into the budget but it made the film authentic.
